More control over building management with AI and IoT.

From standalone sensors to control
A Dutch independent public body with hundreds of locations uses thousands of sensors to monitor water quality, energy consumption and lighting. IoT is the means to gain continuous and demonstrable insight into what is happening in buildings and installations. However, the existing platform offered too little stability and overview. Data went missing, alerts were overlooked and dependence on an external vendor brought risks. The organisation wanted more control over its data and an environment in which sensor readings are not only collected but also actively used. The challenge was to combine security, reliability and automation in a single system that continuously checks, analyses and translates sensor data into action.
From AI prototype to practice
Together with The Orange Force, Facilitech built a successful pilot of a new AI and IoT application and is now developing the MVP on the Mendix platform. The solution replaces the old sensor data system and provides a central data layer in which readings are automatically validated and enriched with AI. AI checks for anomalous or missing data, recognises trends and predicts risks such as legionella growth or rising energy consumption. Smart alerting ensures that only relevant alerts come through, so teams can act in a targeted way. The application automatically tests readings against laws and regulations and generates reports for audits. The result is a future-proof solution in which people and AI work together on reliable and predictable building management.
Continuous insight, reliable data
By combining AI and IoT, the organisation has complete, validated and centrally managed sensor data. Compliance with safety and maintenance regulations is therefore demonstrably assured. Real estate and facilities teams save time because alerts and reports are processed automatically. Because all data stays within the organisation's own environment, dependence on external vendors disappears and knowledge stays in house. This reduces the risk of errors, increases efficiency and creates more control over safety, performance and compliance. Facilitech supports the development and embedding of the solution, so it contributes lastingly to control and peace of mind in building management.
